March 8th, 2019
Imperial Hotel Tokyo

The Brabant Innovation Day in Japan is a yearly returning event where we work closely with the Dutch Embassy in Tokyo to offer an exclusive event. Inviting companies, R&D institutes and universities to a dialogue with leading R&D centers from the province of Noord-Brabant, such as Holst, Solliance and AMsystems in fields such as automotive, healthcare, solar and photonics to develop the products for the future.

Holst Centre: Flexible Electronics, a Key Enabling Technology for Next Generation Automotive IOT and Medical Applications. Presentation by Mr. Ton van Mol, Managing Director

Ton van Mol graduated with honors from Eindhoven University of Technology in Chemical Technology in 1997, and received his PhD in the area of Thin Film technology in 2001. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories (Livermore) as visiting scientist and joined TNO in 2003 as senior scientist in the area of flexible solar cells. In 2005, Ton helped set-up the open innovation initiative between IMEC and TNO called Holst Centre, where he had various roles, such as program manager and partnership director, before he become managing director in January 2014.

Solliance: Light Powered Matter. Presentation by Mr. Ronn Andriessen, Managing Director

Dr. Ronn Andriessen received his PhD in (Photo-)Chemistry in 1991 at the University of Leuven in Belgium. From 1991 to 2008 he worked at Agfa-Gevaert NV where he managed several R&D projects for next generation and new products like photographic films, electro-active films, like photo-voltaics and digital printing plates. In 2008 Ronn became program manager at Holst Centre/TNO of the shared research technology programs “printed conductive structures” and “large area printing”. Two years later he was involved in the set-up of the Solliance initiative, a cross-border and cross-institutional R&D collaboration on thin film PV technologies by TNO, Holst Centre, ECN, imec, FZJ, TUEindhoven, TUDelft and UHasselt where he became program manager of the industrial driven shared research OPV program. In 2015 the focus of this OPV program switched to perovskite based solar cells. Ronn became program director of Solliance in 2016 and in 2018 he became director of Solliance. Ronn contributed to over 100 patent applications and more than 50 scientific publications.

AMsystems: A Roadmap for 3D Food and Pharma Printing. Presentation by Mr. Kjeld van Bommel, Senior Consultant

Kjeld van Bommel studied Chemical Technology and subsequently obtained his PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry at the University of Twente (the Netherlands) in 2000. He then worked for 1 year In Japan as a JISTEC research fellow on the topic of organogels, a topic he continued to work on when he returned to the Netherlands in 2002 where he started working as a researcher for Biomade Technoloy. In 2006 he moved to TNO where he started working as a research scientist on various material related topics such as encapsulation and controlled release, as well as surface modification chemistry. in 2010 he moved to the Equipment for Additive Manufacturing department of TNO in which he currently works as a senior consultant with a focus on the fields of 3D Food and Pharma Printing.
